Today’s blog features my March favorites! March was a pretty busy month for me and full of excitement! So many wonderful new products were launched. One that I am most sad about that I couldn’t get my hands on was the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette! 🙁 I am also in need of the Morphe 350 palette! Can anyone grab it?! Let’s get into my March favorites ladies and gentlemen!
I will start with the skin care products. I have been LOVING the Yes to Grapefruit Correct & Repair Daily Facial Scrub. This has been my holy grail facial scrub. I use it every single day! It has lightened my dark spots over the course of a few months. Not to mention how it makes your skin feel so refreshed. It’s not harsh to the skin and is great for all skin types! For a moisturizer I have been using the Clean & Clear Oil-Free Dual Action Moisturizer. I have been using this for years. I’ve tried other good moisturizers, but seem to always go back to this one! It’s lightweight and oil-free. I just started using this mask, but the Sephora Collection Ginseng Mask is AMAZING. Omgosh. My friend introduced this to me and I haven’t turned back since! The ginseng mask is for toning and revitalizing. I also used the pomegranate mask and it works great as well. I would definitely recommend this mask for all skin types!
We could all use a good eye cream/treatment. Many of us neglect the under eye. You actually need to focus on this area because it’s very sensitive! I recommend the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Complex II. It’s quite pricey at $58, but it’s so amazing. They also offer the sample size so if you’re a Sephora beauty insider you can redeem your points! The last skin care product is an amazing body cream called the Bolero Body Cream. I found this baby at the Dollar Tree! They actually had the body cream, bath salt and facial wipes (which I love by the way). This body cream is SO smooth and lightweight and smells amazing! Did I mention it was $1!
Next I will talk about my makeup March favorites! I actually have so many more, but I had to narrow it down. The Milani Smooth Finish Cream-to-Powder has been my go-to foundation for the last few weeks. This was my first time trying a cream-to-powder foundation. I love it! It’s great on my skin and blends very well! Speaking of Milani, let’s give a round of applause to the Milani Rose Powder Blush in Coral Cove. The PERFECT coral blush which is perfect for the spring! I love it because it blends into your face naturally.
Here’s a question of the day. What took me so long to buy the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara? Seriously, if not the best, probably one of the best mascara I have ever tried! I have two lipsticks that are my absolute fav! The Gerard Cosmetic lipstick in Buttercup and the Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Cathedral. They are my favorite nudes at the moment! A new primer mist that I have been loving is the HARD CANDY Sheer Envy HYDRATING PRIMER MIST Coconut Water. It feels so cool and amazing on the skin and smells like coconut! It literally lasts all day and makes your makeup last longer as well. I have one perfume that I recently purchased and fell in love with. The Prada Candy L’Eau is a great perfume! If you ladies love a light, yet sweet/rosy fragrance then this would be perfect for you! I have one hair product to talk about and that’s the Creme Of Nature Perfect Edges Hair Gel. I have natural hair so it is IMPERATIVE that I keep these edges TAMED. I have been using this for a few years now. I love it because it doesn’t flake up or give you that “glue effect.”
How do you like my March favorites? What were your March favorites? I can’t wait to see what April will bring us! I am already using some pretty amazing products. I would love for you to share your favorite makeup, skin and hair products with me! Have a wonderful day Beauties!
HEY and welcome back Beauties! Today’s blog is a makeup plus glasses tutorial. I know some of you have to wear glasses or simply don’t want to wear contacts on an everyday basis! I have to wear glasses everyday so I figured why not make them look cute?! I would go for a neutral eye since you can’t see through the lens very well. A winged liner is very flattering with glasses! Pair with a bold lip and pull your hair back!
For the eyes I reached for the Milani compact palette. This is the PERFECT palette to travel with by the way. I mainly focused on the winged liner because it brings out your eyes even behind the glasses! I did not use false lashes, but that is completely up to you. For the face I used the Maybelline Baby Skin as a primer and the Milani cream to powder foundation (review coming soon). I highlighted with the LA Girl Pro concealer in fawn and set it with the banana powder. I used the Sleek contour kit for contouring and MAC Gold Deposit for highlighting! I set my entire face with the ELF setting spray. When choosing a lip I say focus on a bold lip! I chose Heroin by MAC. I would even do a pretty red lip!
Wearing glasses doesn’t have to be dull or boring. You should never feel embarrassed to wear your glasses! I have never worn contacts, but many people say they can be quite irritating from time to time! The glasses in the photo aren’t my prescription glasses. They’re actually fashion glasses I purchased from eBay! Want a pair? Click Here! I have received so many compliments. Like this makeup plus glasses tutorial? There is much more to come! Have a wonderful weekend!
Today I want to share the easiest strawberry smoothie recipe! This recipe is brought to you by Edith’s Heavenly Smoothie. I had to copycat this recipe because it’s so delicious. You can definitely make it right before work in the morning because you only need 5 ingredients! It’s springtime so a great tropical smoothie would be wonderful or a great meal replacement. You guys know I have to discuss the health benefits of each ingredient! Not only do you get a great tasting smoothie, but you are also maintaining a healthy system as well. If you’re anything like me you HATE the taste of disgusting things just to stay healthy. Let’s get into the easiest strawberry smoothie recipe!
- Gather your ingredients. You will need 1 cup of frozen strawberries. 1 banana. 1/2 cup of raspberries, 1 tsp flax seed (optional) and 1/3 carrots. YES, I said carrots.
- Now to the fun and EASY part. Throw everything into a blender. I like to grate my carrots before putting them into the blender, but you don’t have to!
- Blend, blend, blend!
- Pour into a glass and enjoy!
There are many health benefits with each ingredient. Strawberries are full of antioxidants, low in calories and eases inflammation. Bananas—I just love bananas! Bananas is a superfood surprisingly. It is also full of vitamin C and potassium. Raspberries are also full of antioxidants and vitamin C. If you decide to use the flax seed you are doing a wonderful thing. Flax is FULL of fiber and protein. Carrots are more than just your eyesight! Carrots prevent heart disease, is a great immune booster and improves digestion.
I am so glad I was able to collaborate with Edith’s Heavenly Smoothie to make the easiest strawberry smoothie recipe! If you are in Columbia, SC or surrounding areas she is willing to do children events, church events, private functions/parties and more!
Please feel free to contact her at email@example.com. Let me know how your smoothie turns out!
Happy Friday Beauties! Today’s blog features some of my favorite spring lipsticks. I actually have so many more I love to wear, but to avoid a long list of lipsticks I narrowed it down to 5! I love the springtime! The lipsticks that I chose would definitely look great on every skin tone. When choosing a lipstick (especially a lighter color) always use a lip liner. Some lipsticks you can get away with. I usually pair lighter lipsticks with Cork by MAC or Brandy Wine by Wet-n-Wild. Now to my favorite spring lipsticks!
- MAC ‘Candy Yum Yum.’ This is an amplified pink color and I absolutely love it.
- Nicka K ‘Beach Fuschia.’ Isn’t this similar to Candy Yum Yum?! This just may be a dupe for it and for $0.99 you can’t beat it!
- MAC LE ‘Lavender Jade.’ This is such a beautiful color. It looks a bit chalky on the photo, but in real life it doesn’t appear that way.
- Colourpop ‘Zipper.’ Okay, this is definitely NOT the only Colourpop lippie I love for the spring! You can actually wear this color year-round!
- MAC ‘Lady Danger.’ The oh so infamous Lady Danger! I LOVE this fiery orange color on every skin tone! It’s perfect for spring and summer!
What are your favorite spring lipsticks? My list will most likely change as summer approaches. If you have any recommendations please feel free to comment. Don’t forget to connect with me via Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram! Have a fantastic weekend!
Happy EMPIRE Wednesday Beauties! No, seriously who else is excited about the season premier (raises hand)! I am coming to you today with another tutorial! Today’s blog features the Too Faced PBJ Palette tutorial. If you missed my review of this palette please check out my blog. The color pay-off of this palette is super amazing. Let’s get into the tutorial!
Let’s start off with our brows as usual. Now some people prefer to start with foundation and that’s totally okay, but starting with the eyes is the easiest for me. I used the NYX micro brow pencil and highlighted them with the LA Girl pro in toffee. I then took that same concealer and used it as an eye primer (it’s very long lasting). Now for the fun part. Go ahead and pull out that cute peanut butter and jelly palette! I swept ‘Jelly’ across the lids and ‘Peanut Butter’ in my crease. For the outer V I used ‘Jammin’ and for brow bone highlight I used ‘Rich & Creamy.’ For my bottom waterline I used ‘Peanut Brittle.’ I then used the Covergirl Intense liquid eyeliner for the wing. For mascara I used the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara followed by #66 lashes from the beauty supple store.
Now to the face! I primed my face with the Maybelline Baby Skin primer and used the Makeup Forever HD foundation. To highlight I used the LA Girl Pro concealer in toffee and set it with the Ben Nye banana powder. For contour I used the Sleek contour kit in deep. For the cheekbone highlight I used MAC gold deposit and the Wet-n-Wild blush in mellow wine. To set my entire face I used the Hard Candy Sheer Envy Hydrating Primer Mist (this stuff is amazing btw).
L-I-P-S! I lined them with Wet-n-Wild’s lipliner in brandy wine followed by the Colourpop Ultra Matte lippie in ‘Zipper.’
Have you tried the Too Faced PBJ Palette yet? If not grab yours here! TF Peanut Butter and Jelly
It’s the weekend Beauties! I’m so excited because I’m going on a quick weekend getaway. That mean I have to pack light (ugh). So since I am travelling I have decided to share with you how to pack your travel makeup bag lightly! This used to be a challenge for me because I wanted to take absolutely EVERYTHING (even things I hardly wore). We tend to do this because we are going out of town and want to try different looks. I know it’s like that for me. 30% of the time I’ll try something new other than that it’s the same ol’ look for me! Maybe I’ll try something new this weekend, maybe not. 🙂
The first tip is to start with the makeup bag itself. The reason why I do this is because it helps discipline me when it comes to what I can take. I chose the Bare Escentuals makeup bag. As you can see in the photo it’s the perfect size! It can fit right into your carry on bag or even into a medium sized purse. The second tip is to downsize your makeup. For example, I put my foundation in a sample sized bottle which is good for 10 uses! I also have the 3-tier sample of the Ben Nye powders (I purchased from eBay). This can also save a lot of space instead of the full sized container. Start according to how you apply your makeup that way you won’t forget anything!
For brushes I’m taking 3 travel sized brushes and a beauty blender. You can do so much with the same brush (you’ll be surprised!) For lipstick I would choose a daytime and nighttime lippie just to have a couple of options! My third tip is to take advantage of samples! You can grab free samples from Sephora and other makeup counters! They won’t tell you these things so don’t be afraid to ask. So instead of making you read a drawn out paragraph for each item, I’ll just list the essentials of my travel makeup bag below!
- L’Oreal Infallible foundation (transferred to sample bottle)
- Maybelline Colorsensational lipstick in ‘Brazen Berry’
- Colourpop lippie in ‘Beeper’
- Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz in ‘dark brown’
- MAC lipliner in ‘Cork’
- MAC lipliner in ‘Nightmoth’
- Benefits POREfessional primer
- LA Girl Pro Concealers in ‘orange’ and ‘fawn’
- MAC blush in ‘peaches’
- L’Oreal Infallible setting powder
- Ben Nye powders sample trio (banana, topaz and sienna)
- Sleek contour trio
- Tartelette In Bloom palette
- UD Perversion mascara
- ELF eyelid primer
- ELF liquid eyeliner
- Maybelline Baby lips
I know 17 items seems like a lot, but honestly every item fits nicely into the makeup bag. Choose a palette that is lightweight and offers an array of colors. The Tartelette In Bloom Palette is PERFECT for travel! Don’t forget to grab some sunglasses and sunscreen! So that’s what is in my travel makeup bag! What are your travel makeup essentials? Please comment, subscribe or ask me some questions! Happy and safe travels and have a wonderful Easter!
Hello and happy Wednesday Beauties! Today’s post is my spring makeup tutorial that features a neutral eye and coral lip! I LOVE springtime! It’s time to pull out those sundresses, floral attire, sandals, sunglasses and spring/summer makeup! I am looking forward to sharing my spring essentials and products. The only thing I hate about spring is the pollen! Let’s get into this spring makeup tutorial beauties!
For the eyebrows I started with the Anastasia Beverly Hill dipbrow pomade in dark brown. Next I used the LA Girl Pro Concealer in fawn to highlight my brow bone area. I used the same concealer to prime my entire eyelid. Guess which palette I reached for? Of course the Tartelette in Bloom palette! On the lids I used ‘sweetheart’ and ‘funny girl.’ In my crease I used ‘rebel’ (which is my current favorite transition color!) For the outer V I used ‘activist.’ For the bottom waterline I used ‘leader’ and in my tear duct area I used ‘funny girl.’ For mascara I used the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara and the ELF liquid eyeliner for my wing. Lastly, for lashes I used the Ardell wispies.
Now to my favorite part of makeup which is the face! I started with the Makeup Forever step 1 hydrating primer followed by the LA Girl orange corrector to conceal my dark spots. For foundation I used the NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint and for highlight I used the LA Girl Pro Concealer in ‘fawn.’ I set the highlight with Ben Nye banana powder and used the Cover Girl bronzer to contour. For blush I reached for the MAC blush in ‘peaches’ and for that extra highlight I used the Bobbi Brown highlight in ‘bronze glow.’ To set my entire face I used the L’Oreal Infallible powder. For my lips I’ve to go for a coral lip. I lined them with MAC’s lipliner in ‘cork’ and the Too Faced La Creme lipstick in ‘juicy melons.’ Well there you have it beauties, my spring makeup tutorial. It’s something simple and definitely can be worn on an everyday basis! Have a fantastic rest of the week!
I just LOVE Fridays don’t you? Today I will do a review on the NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint. I’m always searching for a good foundation especially for my skin type (which is oily.) Everyone is so hyped about the skin tint I had to go try it for myself. I have tried skin tints in the past and they broke me out terribly! I can honestly say this foundation is amazing. I tested it at Sephora and really fell in love with it. I am the type of person that wears foundation by season. I don’t like wearing anything too heavy during the spring and summer months. I opt for BB creams and skin tints.
If you want something that is lightweight but full coverage, you would definitely want to get the NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint. Best of all it has SPF 30 so it’s definitely perfect for those summer days. The color match was also amazing. Do you ever go to a makeup counter and find the perfect match of foundation? I was very lucky because this foundation matched very well. It’s definitely buildable and lasts all day! This was the first NARS face product I’ve ever tried and so far I am very pleased. I plan to try more NARS products in the future.
I will most likely reach for this foundation throughout the entire summer. My neck and chest is lighter than my face so it will actually work out since my face will get darker in the sun! Let me know if you guys decide to try the NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint for yourselves. Have a great weekend!
Get yours here! Sephora
Hello there beauties!
Today I want to share my thoughts on the power of makeup! When I was little up until around the age of 16 I could not stand makeup! I barely wore earrings and lip gloss haha! My mother introduced me to makeup and all I wore was foundation and a little eyeliner. She always told me that I was beautiful, but it was nothing wrong with enhancing your beauty just a little! With the low self-esteem that I possessed I simply did not care. It was one day I decided to put on a little makeup and said…hmm this isn’t so bad (I actually said this AIN’T so bad because I’m from the country :). Although I started wearing makeup, it never took away the beauty from my bare face. I ran track throughout high school so makeup wasn’t apart of my routine.
So I’ve decided to share that little story with you because I am a firm believer that you are very much beautiful and you do not need makeup to define who you are! I am obsessed with the ART of makeup and the many things you can do with makeup. It’s literally the same as any other composition. You can make it into a simple drawing or go for the ultimate masterpiece. Do not feel as if you need makeup! I can honestly go to the store with a bare face especially if I am only going to be out for a short while. I love putting on sweatpants, Converse, a beanie and absolutely nothing on my face except for a little moisturizer! Ladies remember to embrace your flaws! I embrace the fact that I have hyper-pigmentation, acne-prone and oily skin. I embrace that my brows aren’t perfect and that my face is darker than my neck and chest (which makes color matching a little challenging sometimes.) I also embrace the little moles that are underneath my eyes and neck. I seem to get more as I age, but that’s okay because they are BEAUTIFUL!
It’s absolutely OKAY to wear makeup as much as you want! If you want to wear makeup every single day for the rest of your life then be my guest. Just make sure you’re taking care of your skin underneath. The power of makeup is what YOU make it. You should own that makeup, don’t let the makeup own you. Tell yourself, “Okay, I’m going to put on this makeup today because I WANT to not because I NEED to.” Remember, you are beautiful!
Hope you are doing well! Today’s makeup look features a majestic nights look. Let me tell you, this was the most RANDOM look I have decided to do. Initially, I was going for a “springtime” look. FAIL. After I completed the look, it started to turn into something different, something great actually. Even the lighting appeared different (maybe because I used my new background which I LOVE). I asked my friends for ideas to name this look and THANKS to their wonderful and creative minds, majestic nights was born. Lol, why did that sound like an intro to a novel? Anyway want details on how I created this look then keep reading below!
For the eyes I used the Urban Decay Vice 3 palette (this palette is in my top 3!) On the lids I used ‘Dragon’ and for my transition color I used ‘Downfall.’ I used ‘Reign’ and ‘DTF’ to deepen the crease area a bit and swept ‘Undone’ on my brow bone area! For my outer V I used ‘Defy and on the bottom lid area I used ‘Dragon’ and ‘Reign.’ For my brows I used the NYX brow pencil and the Revlon eye art in ‘Topaz Twinkle’ to line my eyes with. My lashes are the double pack #66 lashes I purchased from the beauty supply store.
For my face I started off with the Too Faced HangoveRx primer (which is amazing btw). I used the L’Oreal Infallible Foundation in ‘Cocoa.’ For highlight and contour I used the NARS radiant concealer in ‘Caramel’ and the Ruby Kisses contour duo. To set the highlight and contour I used the Mary Kay powder foundation in ‘Bronze 1’ and the Black Radiance pressed powder. For that extra highlight I used the Bobbi Brown highlight in ‘Bronze Glow.’ For blush I used the Too Faced Sweetheart Blush in ‘Something About Berry.’ To finish the look off I used the MAC studio fix powder to set my entire face followed by the MAC fix plus spray! For my lips I lined them using the MAC lipliner in ‘Cork’ followed by the Maybelline lipstick and Wet-n-Wild ‘Bare It All’ in the center!
I think I’m ready for a night out on the town with this majestic nights makeup look! Did you enjoy this look? If so please comment and share! I would love to see what “random” makeup looks you guys come up with! If I haven’t told you before THANK YOU so much for your support! I notice every time you guys visit my page, comment, ask questions, comment and like my photos on Facebook and Instagram and I really appreciate it!
